Yoga of Consciousness Meditation

Kyle decided to film a meditation on “the yoga of consciousness” for the blog today to help you learn to disengage from negative, self-identifying thoughts. It’s easy for our awareness or consciousness to get stuck on certain aspects of ourselves, such as pain, anger, specific thoughts, or on our physical body. The longer we get stuck in a specific spot the more we tend to identify with it. This means we start to lose the ability to view ourselves as separate from it.

The meditation today will help you see that you have choice in where you put your attention. The more we practice where we put our attention the more we realize that we are not the thing that we are putting our attention on. This is a very important practice for being able to let go or be objective about our thoughts. When we are identified with our thoughts, such as saying, “I am angry,” or, “I am sad,” it’s harder to be objective. A simple switch to saying, “I feel sad,” allows you to have greater perspective on your situation. Feeling something is a temporary state, whereas being something is more fixed.

It’s always important to develop a positive morning practice to set the tone for the day, perhaps now more than ever. We hope that you enjoy this short guided meditation. May it bring you more peace, mental flexibility, understanding, and joy.
