The Rite of Passage

The Rite of Passage is an exciting, five day rafting experience on the Green River in Utah.  The river is a powerful metaphor for life and the perfect backdrop for an adventure of self discovery.

American culture has numerous rites of passage including baptism, graduations, marriage and even funerals. Often, however, these rites of passage are honorary and do not incorporate all the structural elements necessary for us to transition from one phase of our lives to the next, particularly the transition from child to adult.

As a result many people continue to relate to the world from the perspective of a child.  We look outside ourselves for what we need emotionally and physically, we give in to others and we see our limitations rather than our possibilities.  The opportunity for transformation during Inquiry Method’s Rite of Passage is to become self-nurturing, self-trusting, and self-reliant.

Parents and children, who may attend this week together, leave with a heightened mutual respect and intimacy.  The message is deep and moving, incorporating teamwork, adventure and challenge with playful activities, and lots of fun!  The impact of The Rite of Passage will far outlast the memories of whitewater and sunshine.

Testimonial

“The Rite of Passage raft trip, for me, was a truly profound experience.  The first thing was the feeling that I carry nothing from my past into this day - No pain, no fear, no prejudice, no worry, no expectations, no rejection, no childhood, no personality, no trait, no body, nothing!   Each day, I choose or un-choose anything in my life - and I cannot be trapped if I don't allow it.   I am free, light, unteathered and new.  Secondly, (and unbelievably to me) I felt a deep sense of confidence begin to creep into my bones and my heart.  A courageous stance on who I am, how I feel, no matter what anyone else thinks.  This came from a clarity and an unwillingness to ever disrespect, dishonor or devalue anything inside me ever again.  This trip and this river was such a profound passage for me.  I discovered in myself a depth of pride, courage, and self-honor that I never knew I possessed. I have never felt so exalted ever before in my life.   Thank you!"
